5 Reasons why photography is so expensive

Do you walk into a shop and consider how long a pair of shoes will last compared to the price and how many times you’d actually wear it, before making that purchase? We understand that you want the best option for your event, but you have to consider all the points below before making a decision by first focussing on the price. Photographers are not just trying to make a living. They are not trying to rip you off. They are certainly not trying to make you poor. There are many factors they consider before they decide on their service rate. Your photographs will last forever even when you not…

RAW post: Be true to yourself

Where you grow up definitely has an impact on how you’ll walk out that door, let it be 6 am in the morning or 5 pm at night. Living in so-called ‘coloured’ area made me less worrisome of what people thought and still think of me. I’d walk out that door with no makeup on, messy hair and pajamas on, any time of day, and I’d feel normal even if they stare, I’d just laugh. Makes me smile and appreciate the direction my life has gone; the career I’ve chosen. When I get dressed in the morning I tend to lean on pieces that are different, like bright coloured…

    Raw post: My mom

So it was my mom’s birthday two week ago. For those who know me and or my family, know my mom’s been a home executive, a stay at home mom basically all my life. But she’s literally survived the craziest health issues. Definitely, a blessing to be doing so well after turning around from multiple near deaths. Earlier in January, it’s been 11 years since she’s survived a mostly full recovery from a cerebral aneurysm. She had neurosurgery and lost her short-term memory. Prior to that, she had a stroke, 4 caesareans, adult jaundice. In basic terms is when weak parts of a blood vessel, bulges (ballooning of the vessel).…

Pets have been around for Thousands of years,  generally kept for owners pleasure. We humans have domesticated horses, cats and dogs. RAW: What is friendship?

I started a personal project photographing some of my close friends so thought It will be fitting to add it to this post. What is friendship? As you get older, you realize your friendship circle gets smaller and smaller. Not because you don’t care, or they don’t matter (Well sometimes that’s the case). Sometimes you just grow and maybe that friendship no longer adds value to your life, or you are just two different people now. That’s what happens in most cases. That you both don’t value the friendship enough to make the effort. Either way, you learn there is friendships are exactly like dating. Some need constant communication, and…

RAW: How I got through my break up

I wrote this piece because I felt like no one talks about the hardships, to help you cope, and I think you need to know. I did a creative project because of this story images down below after the story. No one tells you how painful break ups are. How it literally feels like someone died, that your heart is actually paining. Like your chest hurts and you can barely breathe. I’ve never lost anyone to death, but I assumed it should feel something like this. This person you spent all your time with, you no longer have, It all comes to a halt. You go through different phases from crying,…

Why it’s important to do self portraits: The growth: Part 1

This is probably the hardest genre to strive at and create satisfactory work, as you are indeed your own worst enemy. I know we live in the 21st century where selfies are taken 99% of the time (or in photography terms, self-portraiture), but this by far the most difficult subject to photograph. I knew I sucked at this, but I knew it was something I wanted to get into, from all the content I found online, I was yearning to try.   I’ve been avoiding the subject for the longest time. I hit a rough patch with my photography work and needed some inspiration, I knew I needed a challenge…
